Egyptian Chaos: Another Sign of the Last Days & the Rise of the Muslim Mahdi/Antichrist

“Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. The lion hath roared, who will not fear? The Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy? Publish in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold the great tumults in the midst thereof, and the oppressed in the midst thereof. For they know not to do right, saith the LORD, who store up violence and robbery in their palaces” (Amos 3:7-10).
My brother Alan Odle and I have prophetic dreams and visions from time to time. In March of 2010, my brother shared a dream with me that he had about a great shaking coming to Egypt and that it was connected to the end of the age and the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. This was months before the “Arab Spring” began. Here is what he said, “I had a dream March 30, 2010 of a great earthquake in Egypt coming in the near future. In the dream I saw crowds of people in the streets of Egypt. Then the ground began to shake under them. This dream was linked to another dream. The dreams were like one. The second part of the dream was in Jerusalem. I was standing with my wife southeast of Old Jerusalem. It was night. I could see the temple mount to my left. I could see the East Gate and to my right was the Mount of Olives. I said to my wife, ‘When the feet of Jesus touch there the whole Earth will shake.’ The return of Jesus was at any moment. These were as one dream. It was clear that Egypt was linked to the end.”
In the last week, I have read numerous articles and watched news videos about the violence in Egypt. Many have been killed during the street protests and hundreds of Muslim women raped by gangs of Muslim men. It is truly a demonstration of the evil spirits behind Islam. We have seen this for years through the Iran/Iraq War, the overthrow of Gaddafi in Libya, and then of course the ongoing civil war in Syria with Muslims fighting against Muslims. However, the increasing chaos and upheaval in Egypt is spoken of in the Bible as yet another sign that we are in the last days and that the Antichrist (a moderate Muslim world leader) will soon come to power in the Middle East and then lead a world government.
There is an end-time prophecy in Isaiah that foretold a time of chaos in Egypt when Egyptians would fight "brother against brother" and "Egyptian against Egyptian." This is no doubt what we have seen in Egypt over the last two years and especially the last two weeks with the overthrow of President Morsi. Sadly, many naïve people in the West think that this overthrow is good and that Egypt will finally get a nice, moderate leader. Unfortunately, Bible prophecy tells us that the Egyptians are not going to get better leadership out of this second revolution either. In fact, this prophecy in the book Isaiah says that this turmoil in Egypt will lead to a very "cruel lord," and a "fierce king" ruling over them. And even if the new leader appears to be a moderate at first, this passage reveals that the next leader of Egypt will be terrible as he helps to bring the Egyptian people under the power of the coming Antichrist world leader who (the Bible says) will control of Egypt and most of the Middle East in the last days.
"The burden of EGYPT.. Behold, the LORD rideth upon a swift cloud, and shall come into Egypt: and the idols of Egypt shall be moved at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the midst of it. And I WILL SET THE EGYPTIANS AGAINST THE EGYPTIANS: and they shall fight every one against his brother and every one against his neighbor; city against city, and kingdom against kingdom. And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst thereof; and I will destroy the counsel thereof: and they shall seek to the idols, and to the charmers, and to them that have familiar spirits, and to the wizards. And the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of a cruel lord; and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts…..The LORD hath mingled a perverse spirit in the midst thereof: and they have caused Egypt to err in every work thereof, as a drunken man staggereth in his vomit. Neither shall there be any work for Egypt, which the head or tail, branch or rush, may do. In that day shall Egypt be like unto women: and it shall be afraid and fear because of the shaking of the hand of the LORD of hosts, which he shaketh over it. And the land of Judah shall be a terror unto Egypt, every one that maketh mention thereof shall be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the LORD of hosts, which he hath determined against it” (Isaiah 19:1-4; 14-17).
You may ask, “How do you know that this is an end-time passage?” Well, the passage says that the “land of Judah shall be a terror unto Egypt.” The only thing this could be referring to is the nation of Israel and its powerful military and nuclear arsenal. This type of power is the only thing that a Muslim nation with a large military would fear. This was not even a possibility until Israel became a nation again in 1948, took back Jerusalem and the West Bank (Judea-Samaria) in the Six Day War of 1967, and then built up a very strong and advanced military and developed nuclear weapons over that last several decades. Two of the most significant prophetic fulfillments in the Bible are Israel becoming a nation and Israel taking back Jerusalem. God’s Word says these are clear signs that we have entered into the last generation before the return of Jesus Christ (See Ezekiel 36-39, Isaiah 11, Amos 9, Matthew 24, Luke 21).
But let’s go back to the Egyptian uproar being connected to the rise of the Antichrist and his coming rule over their country via a cruel puppet lord. How do we know that the Antichrist will take over Egypt? Well, this scenario was specifically foretold by the prophet Daniel over 2,600 years ago. The Lord showed him that a powerful world leader (the Antichrist) would take over many countries in the last days and Egypt was named as one of them:
"He (the Antichrist) shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon (Jordan). He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of EGYPT SHALL NOT ESCAPE. But he shall have POWER OVER the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of EGYPT: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps" (Daniel 11:41-43).
The Antichrist is also referred to as "a king of fierce countenance" by the prophet Daniel, "And in the latter time (last days) of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a KING OF FIERCE COUNTENANCE, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up. And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practice, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people. And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by PEACE shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand" (Daniel 8:23-25).
Now, I want to make it very clear that I am NOT saying that the next leader of Egypt will be the Antichrist. I believe these passages show us that the next leader of Egypt will be extremely cruel, but that he and the people of Egypt will be subjugated to an even more fierce king—the coming Mahdi/Antichrist. But we are warned by God through the prophet Daniel that this "fierce king" will come talking peace, but through that façade he will destroy many. Daniel also shows us that this evil leader will stand up against the Prince of princes, the Lord Jesus Christ, but that the Lord will destroy him without using His hand. This is a direct reference to the second coming of Jesus Christ. The book of Revelation and 2 Thessalonians 2 both speak of this approaching day when the Lord Jesus returns to earth and destroys the Antichrist and his armies:
"And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his MOUTH goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. And I saw the beast (the ANTICHRIST), and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh" (Revelation 19:11-21).
“Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved” (2 Thessalonians 2:1-10).
You may ask, “Why do you say the coming Antichrist will be a Muslim? The Left Behind authors and our Baptist preachers have told us for years that the Antichrist would be a white guy from Europe.” Yes they did, but the Bible NEVER said that. In fact, the Bible is very specific about the race and region from which the Antichrist would come and it is NOT Europe. You may also protest, “But doesn’t the Bible teach that the Antichrist comes out of a revived Roman Empire which is the European Union?” Yes, the Bible does say that the final Beast kingdom is a revived Roman Empire. However, what many fail acknowledge (even though you can easily find maps of the old Roman Empire) is that the Old Roman Empire was not just Europe…it also included the Middle East and North Africa. So, the true revived Roman Empire of the last days will be Europe and the Middle East/North African region uniting together to lead a world government after the United States, Russia, and China are crippled to some degree by economic collapse and World War III.
The Bible and a quick look at history really bring this into perspective. In Daniel 2, King Nebuchadnezzar was given a dream by Yahweh the God of Israel that the prophet Daniel interpreted for him. In that dream, the king saw a statue with a head of gold, arms and chest of silver, waist of brass, legs of iron and the two feet with ten toes were iron mixed with clay. Then, he saw a stone that was not cut out by human hands come out of heaven, striking the statue at its feet and destroying it. Then, this Stone became a mountain that filled the entire earth.
When Daniel gave the king the interpretation from God, he told him that he (Nebuchadnezzar) and his kingdom of Babylon was this head of gold, but that another powerful and large kingdom would rise after him which was represented by the silver. That happened shortly thereafter when the Medes and Persian conquered Babylon. This was followed by another kingdom represented by the brass which was Greece. Then another kingdom that would be stronger and last longer than the others as represented by the two legs of iron. We know from history that the next empire to control Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa was the Roman Empire and it was stronger than the others and lasted longer. It was also divided into Eastern and Western parts, thus the two legs. The final kingdom in the statue was represented by the feet of iron mixed with clay. I say final because we see this “two feet ten-toe” kingdom in power when the Stone from heaven comes down and smites the statue on the feet, completely destroying it. The Bible clearly reveals the Messiah Jesus Christ as the Rock of offence and the Stone of stumbling. So, Jesus Christ will return at the time of this final Antichrist world government to destroy it and set up His everlasting kingdom on earth.
What is amazing here is the word “mixed” in the passage referring to the final kingdom being iron (Roman Empire) “mixed” with clay. The word that was originally written by Daniel which means to “commingle or mingle self or mix” is the word is Arab. Yes, it is the word ARAB. So, the final beast kingdom will be iron (the strength of the Roman Empire, i.e. Rome and Europe) Arab-ed together with a people group represented by the clay. I believe the clay is the Islamic nations who will unite with Europe for a season via the United Nations to create the world government. Remember, that not all Arab people are Muslims, but Islam is revealed through the Bible as playing a major role in end time events (though not a good one). The word clay is first used in the Bible in 1 Kings 7:45-46 where King Solomon cast the vessels for use in the Temple in the “clay ground.” The place where these vessels were made is east of the Jordan River. Today that land just happens to belong to the Muslim country of Jordan which gives us a big clue about the identity of the “clay” portion of the Antichrist and his kingdom. Another clue the Bible gives us is that while the Antichrist is taking over many countries in the Middle East and North Africa for some reason he leaves Jordan alone. Ever wonder why?
As I was finishing up this note, I came across an article that corroborates this coming Middle East union under the Islamic messiah figure known as the Mahdi/Antichrist. It was published on July 10, 2013 by Debka File and states that leaders from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates landed in Egypt with 12 billion dollars of aide for the Egyptian military and struggling economy…this is unheard of in the Middle East. The article also states that the Egyptian military was not alone in their plan to oust Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood government. This shows that the more deceptive “moderate” Muslims in the region are uniting to go along with the false peace and global government that the elites of the world are pushing. Here are a couple of excerpts from the article:
“In a dazzling display of monetary muscle, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates poured $8 billion in a single day into the coffers of Egypt’s army rulers in cash, grants, loans without interest and gifts of gas, a dizzying life-saving infusion into its tottering economy. Forking out sums on this scale in a single day – or even month - is beyond the capacity of almost every world power – even the US and Russia - in this age of economic distress. The Arab oil colossuses managed to dwarf Iran’s pretensions to the standing of regional power.
Tuesday, July 9, just six days after the Egyptian army overthrew the Muslim Brotherhood president Mohamed Morsi, a UAE delegation of foreign and energy ministers and national security adviser landed in Cairo. They came carrying the gifts of $1 billion as a grant and $2 billion in long-term credit.
In well-orchestrated moves, Saudi Arabia then stepped forward with a $5 billion package, of which a lump sum of $2 billion was drafted to Egypt’s state bank that day, followed by another $2 billion as a gift of Saudi gas, and a further $1 billion for propping up the sagging Egyptian currency.
The delivery by two Arab governments to a third of financial assistance on this scale and on a single day is unheard of in the Middle East, or, indeed, anywhere else. As they celebrate Ramadan, 84 million Egyptians can start looking forward to a square meal at the end of their month of fasting.
This river of largesse was the outcome of a development first revealed by DEBKAfile last week: The Egyptian military high command was not working alone when its operations headquarters put together the July 3 takeover of power from the Muslim Brotherhood; it was coordinated closely down to the last detail with the palaces of the Saudi and UAE rulers and the operations rooms of their intelligence services…..The petrodollar shower for Egypt did not end with the $8 billion from Saudi Arabia and the UAE: Kuwait has pledged another $5 billion - later amended to $4 billion - in a secret communication to Riyadh. Don’t be fooled by talks of peace, moderation, or even peace treaties in the Middle East. The Bible is clear that the world will unite into a world government through promises of peace, but it will destroy many and bring the world into a totalitarian state. That world government via the United Nations and the Arab world will eventually be led by one man—a Muslim “man of peace” who is also a prince. And most of the world will be deceived by him and his false prophet (the Pope) into pledging allegiance to or worshipping this man and his government by taking a mark in the hand or forehead. Whatever you do, DO NOT TAKE HIS MARK OR PLEDGE ALLIGIENCE OF ANY KIND TO THIS COMING WORLD LEADER OR HIS WORLD GOVERNMENT! The Lord Jesus Christ considers this an unforgivable and a forever damning sin (see Rev. 13, 14, & 20, 21). The promise of peace, safety and provision on earth is NOT worth an eternity in hell!
Here are the Biblical Characteristics of the Antichrist:
1. He will be a real man not just a spirit or an evil system of government (2 Thess. 2 & Dan. 7:11).
2. He will be of Arab descent because the Bible calls him “the Assyrian” (Isaiah 10).
3. He will talk constantly about world peace and security. He will probably have written books on how to solve the Middle East peace problem and won peace awards from numerous countries (Daniel 11:21-24 & 1 Thessalonians 5).
4. He will be a very intellectual “royal” who carries the title of prince (Daniel 8:23-25; 9:26)
5. He will be in line for a kingship but the honor of the kingdom will be denied him (Daniel 11:21).
6. He will come to power over the world government by deceitful, smooth talk and flattery (Daniel 7, 11:21-24, & Revelation 13).
7. Playing the part of a moderate Muslim, he will be a key player in resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict through a peace treaty that follows a terrible war between Israel and their Arab neighbors. This peace treaty is for seven years, but he will break it in the middle of that last seven years (Daniel 9:27; Joel 3; Amos 1).
8. He will be viewed as the man who saved the world from annihilation after the coming nuclear war and by many he will be viewed as the Great World Teacher who is also superhuman. The United Nations already states that some people will see him as the Buddhist Maitreya, others the Hindu Krishna, the Islamic Mahdi, and even as the second coming of Christ in a man. However, for 1.8 billion Muslims to accept him as their promised messiah the Mahdi, he has to be a direct descendent of Muhhammed. So, that would be another clue to his identity. (Daniel 11, Matthew 24, 2 Thess. 2 & Revelation 13).
9. He will promote humanitarian issues and wealth redistribution i.e. communism and “democratic” socialism (Daniel 11:24).
10. At first, he will push all religions to put down their differences and unify in order to bring peace (Daniel 11:21-24, Revelation 13 & 17).
11. He will promote a one world government and eventually preside over a group of ten world leaders (Daniel 7 & Rev. 17).
12. He will be involved with the United Nations and the plans to change it into a world government with a new name (Rev. 13 & 17).
13. The reunited Holy Roman Empire (European Union) along with a union of Arab nations will love him and support him all the way (Daniel 2 & Rev. 13).
14. He will work with an influential religious leader who will perform great demonic miracles (the Pope) to bring about this global agenda (Rev. 13 & 17).
15. With the Pope’s help, he will gain control over the global banking system and eventually control who can buy or sell through some kind of mark/number placed in the hand or forehead; an act that will eternally damn a person to hell (Revelation 13 & 14).
16. He will deny that Jesus Christ is the unique Son of God who came in the flesh, died on the cross for man’s sin, and rose from the dead. Thus, he will deny that repentance and faith in Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to heaven (1 John 4).
17. He will demand total allegiance and make war on the saints by instituting a great worldwide persecution against Christians, Jews, and those who refuse his mark. The Bible is clear that if anyone takes his mark or worships him, they will be eternally damned in hell and the smoke of their torment will rise day and night forever. (Rev. 13 & 14; Daniel 7; Matt. 24).
18. He will desire to take over Jerusalem, will consider the Temple Mount his and will eventually try to take both for himself believing he has a right to them (Daniel 11:21-45).
19. He will eventually desecrate a rebuilt Jewish Temple in which he will declare himself to be in the place of God and demand total submission* and obedience to him and his government or death (2 Thess. 2; Rev. 13). * Islam means "submission."
20. His primary mode of execution other than war will be beheading which is part of Islamic law and practice. (Revelation 20:1-6)
21. While taking over all of the nations in the Middle East and North Africa (particularly Egypt, Libya, and the Ethiopian regions) and even when he moves to conquer Israel, for some reason, he favors Jordan and leaves that country alone (Daniel 11:41-43).
22. He will attempt to annihilate the Jewish people and he will kill many. He will move the armies of the world in an attempt to completely take over Israel, but the Lord Jesus Christ will return in dramatic fashion to stop him at the Battle of Armageddon at the end of the last seven years (Matthew 24, Zechariah 13 & 14, and Revelation 16-20).
Is there a man in the world today that meets all these characteristics? Yes there is! And it is NOT President Obama.
